Jamie Gittens was one of the breakout stars of last season’s Champions League.
The 20-year-old ended the campaign with four goals and an assist for Borussia Dortmund, including an impressive effort against Dinamo Zagreb, cutting in from the left wing before producing a classy finish with his right foot.
Gittens also claimed eight goals and four assists in the Bundesliga for Dortmund, including a run of five goals in seven matches around the turn of the year and a superb strike in a 1-1 draw with rivals Bayern Munich.
A description of Gittens’ main attributes from the Coaches’ Voice website, external, which includes analysis provided by Uefa licensed coaches, says: “A right-footed winger who has played on both flanks. His main attribute is dribbling; he consistently attacks opponents with aggressive ball-carrying.
“He will often purposely take a first touch that has him facing his direct opponent as soon as possible, in a 1v1.
“When his opponent jumps out to press him, Gittens then has space to attack, taking the ball as close to the opposing penalty area as possible.”
