The Three Lions take a trip away from their national stadium of Wembley, to visit Nottingham Forest’s City Ground for the first time in 80 years tonight.
Successfully hosting England Under-21 matches in 2023 helped convince the FA to give the ground another go — and given the city is positioned in the Midlands, it makes sense for fans in both the north and south of England.
However, as one of the least accessible Premier League stadiums for disabled supporters it is far from a perfect fit.
The City Ground is in a beautiful spot at the heart of Nottingham, on the banks of the River Trent, with nearby Trent Bridge often hosting England’s cricket teams.
There is little new and shiny about the place, hence why it managed just 12th in our most recent set of Premier League stadium rankings.
But the City Ground retains a powerful atmosphere with deeply ingrained history, and should give England a warm reception.
