Walmart restock coming tomorrow @ 9 AM Eastern!

Just a quick reminder if you’re on the hunt: there’s a Walmart Switch 2 restock coming tomorrow on Wednesday, June 25.

The Switch 2 units are slated to go on sale starting at 9 AM Eastern for Walmart Plus members, and whatever’s left over by 10 AM will become available for sale to anyone who wants one.

So if you want a Switch 2, it might be worth paying the Walmart Plus fee ($12.95) to sign up and get first crack at tomorrow’s Nintendo Switch 2 restock!

Another retail sweep

The work day is winding down, and I’ve done another stock sweep across all the major U.S. retailers selling the Switch 2. Unfortunately, things are still pretty dry out there after Best Buy sold out of its recent restock. We’re not likely to see any more restocks ahead of tomorrow’s at Walmart, but feel free to check them out for yourself in case you get lucky.

Think twice before getting a pre-owned Switch 2

With Switch 2 stock so hard to come by, you may be considering picking up a second-hand Nintendo Switch 2 just to get your hands on Nintendo’s latest console. If you do, just be aware that some buyers are reporting that Nintendo’s anti-piracy policy has left their pre-owned Switch 2s bricked.

Earlier this month, we reported that Nintendo began disabling online access for Switch 2 consoles that use the MIG Switch (or MIG Flash) flash cartridge, which lets players back up copies of their games. Those affected will show the error code “2124-4508,” which will permanently block players from accessing online services. That’s exactly what one Reddit user was greeted with after booting up their second-hand Switch 2 from Walmart.

This Switch 2 game will only cost $20

Drag X Drive on Nintendo Switch 2 with Joy-Con 2

Video games just keep getting more expensive, jumping from $70 with the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S to $80 with the launch of Mario Kart World. Fortunately though, Nintendo has just announced that one of the Switch 2 games we’re most excited about after playing it ourselves will be even cheaper than we thought.

In a post on X, Nintendo of America revealed that Drag x Drive will cost just $19.99 when it launches on August 14. However, you can pre-order it on the eShop right now.

What my colleague Kate Kozuch and I really liked about Drag x Drive is that it does things a bit differently thanks to its more novel control scheme. Not only do you use the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons in Mouse Mode but you use two this way at the same time to control your character’s vehicle in a game of Rocket League-style basketball. Then, when it’s time to shoot, you lift up a Joy-Con and use motion controls to do so.

For me personally, Drag x Drive feels like the Switch 2’s version of the original Nintendo Switch’s Arms. I had a ton of fun playing Arms with motion controls and I’m still holding out for a sequel. In the meantime though, Drag x Drive should hold me over as I found playing the game in double Mouse Mode really had me working up a sweat.

Check your local Target

target store sign

Although the Nintendo Switch 2 is still sold out online, I was able to find 7 consoles in stock right near my house. To check in your area, you will need to sign in with your Target account or create an account if you don’t have one already.

I didn’t have a Target account myself and signing up only took a minute or so followed by verification via text message. Once that was done, I clicked on Pickup and then the Show in-stock stores button below it. This pulled up one Target store with Switch 2 stock 7 miles from me and another 38 miles away. Obviously, your mileage will vary depending on where you live. However, if you want a Switch 2 today, finding a store with stock and heading there in person seems to be your best bet.

If you’d rather order a Switch 2 online and have it delivered, keep checking back for more restocks. Or, if you have a Walmart Plus membership, you can reserve a Switch 2 tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9pm (ET).

Don’t pay for these Switch 2 Upgrades

Zelda Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Editions

If you just picked up a Nintendo Switch 2 or are hoping to get one in the next restock, you’re probably looking to experience some of the upgraded games on your new console. While Mario Kart World is very easy to recommend and you might even get it with your Switch 2 if you pick up the bundle, there are plenty of other great games to check out.

Two of which are the Nintendo Switch 2 Editions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. If you already own these games, you don’t have to rebuy them. Instead, you only need to pay $10 to upgrade them to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.

For those that are Nintendo Switch Online members and pay extra for the Expansion Pack, you can save $20 and get both of these upgrades for free.

To do so, just head to the Nintendo Switch Online tab or open the eShop and search for either game. With a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, you can download them for free and experience Hyrule with updated graphics and buttery smooth frame rate of 60fps.

Our favorite TVs for the Switch 2…

Now that you’ve got your Switch 2, you might be wondering what TV to pair it with. Tom’s Guide TV reviewer/writer Ryan Epps has picked out his top 5 TVs for the Switch 2. Remember, the Switch 2 is set to support 4K resolution at 60fps via HDMI 2.0 — no HDMI 2.1 port needed.

Additionally, not every Switch 2 game will be capable of running at 4K/60fps let alone 1080p/120fps. So Ryan’s picked out the TVs that pack all the specs you need so you don’t overspend on unneeded features. Check out his top picks below.

Where to buy Street Fighter 6 for Switch 2

Street Fighter 6

Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza are hands-down the titles I’m most excited for on the Switch 2. But I’d also like to add Street Fighter 6 to that list. I’ve been playing SF titles since I was a kid and SF6 is right up my alley. Here are all of the retailers where you can buy the game right now.

Reminder: Walmart’s restock is for members only…

Hey, all! Deals EIC Louis here keeping an eye out for Switch 2 restocks this afternoon. So as we all know, Walmart will have Switch 2 restocks for Walmart Plus members tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9pm (ET).

However, the restock is for paying Walmart Plus members only. That means if you sign up for the free trial, no Switch 2 for you. That means you can either opt for the Walmart Plus annual plan ($98/year) or sign up for a Walmart Plus monthly plan ($12.95/month) and then cancel it once you get your Switch 2.

Check out our Walmart Plus guide for all the perks of membership.

If you’ve been lucky enough to bag your Switch 2 already, you’ll know that it comes with a lot more internal storage than the original Switch… but the games demand more of that space, too.

If you’re an early Switch 2 adopter, chances are you’re going to want to play a lot of games on your shiny new system and if you want to avoid the hassle of uninstalling and reinstalling your games constantly across the system’s lifetime, it’s probably a good idea to expand your storage options soon.

Another Switch 2 stock sweep

(Image credit: Future / Tom’s Guide)

Still not seeing any major changes across the U.S.; if you’re looking to bag a Switch 2 online, that Walmart Plus restock is still looking like the surest bet.

In the meantime, though, there do seem to be units still out in the wild. If you can make it to a store with stock, you might be able to bag a Switch 2 in-store.

Here’s our full suite of links once again, so you can check if there’s any available near you:

In-store stock available @ Target

Looks like there are still some Switch 2 units and Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundles available in-store at Target.

Via the “Check Stores” function on the site, I’m seeing units in various Target stores across the U.S.

Most of the stores I have checked are flagging that they’ve only got a very small number of consoles in stock.

If you’re after a console, click through to the Target site below and see if you have any stock nearby.

Switch 2 still in stock at Nintendo U.K.

Nintendo Switch 2

If you’re based in the U.K. and you desperately want to bag a Nintendo Switch 2, the Nintendo store still has the console available for purchase for £395.

I’ve checked, and the Mario Kart World Bundle is not in stock, but if you’re not interested in Mario’s next-gen racer (or you’re looking forward to Donkey Kong: Bananza to drop next month), now’s the time to buy.

REMINDER: WALMART RESTOCK INBOUND JUNE 25

A Nintendo Switch 2 handheld console

It seems like everyone’s next big shot at bagging a Switch 2 will be via the Walmart Switch 2 restock coming on Wednesday, June 25.

The restock event will initially be exclusive to Walmart Plus members, starting at 9 p.m. ET, before opening up to everyone at 10 p.m. ET.

We posted about this yesterday evening, but I wanted to flag it again to ensure aspiring Switch 2 owners who are keeping a close eye on our live coverage don’t miss out.

I wouldn’t be hugely surprised if it sells out within that first hour, though. If you’re still looking for an opportunity to snag your own Switch 2 ASAP, shelling out an extra $12.95 for Walmart Plus is probably a good move.

Switch 1 game deals galore

If you want to flesh out your gaming library for when your Nintendo Switch 2 console finally arrives, one of my favorite places to shop Nintendo Switch game deals is Woot. Right now this retailer is running its Video Game Super Sale with some nice discounts on must-have games for the original Nintendo Switch.

This is a must-own Nintendo Switch 2 accessory

Once you’ve tried the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller, you can never go back! Luckily this accessory is still in stock at various retailers including Walmart. Personally, I’ve used my Nintendo Switch 1 Pro Controller to death so I’ll be upgrading to the new version ASAP.

Stock sweep

After a quick look at all the major retailers, the Switch 2 stock situation seems unchanged. While there are no major restocks to be found, there are a few Switch 2 units here and there depending on your location, such as at Walmart and Target. If you want to take a look for yourself, check the links below.

The Nintendo Switch 2-compatible GameCube controller is in stock at Nintendo U.S. right now. If you’ve already snagged yourself a Nintendo Switch 2 console and are looking forward to replaying all those awesome GameCube titles available on Nintendo Switch Online, this controller will definitely improve your experience!

Nintendo U.K. has stock

Switch 2 and Mario

Looks like Nintendo U.K. also has Nintendo Switch 2 units in stock right now. Unfortunately, there are no Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundles in stock at the moment.

A few units at Amazon U.K.

Looks like Amazon U.K. has a limited number of Nintendo Switch 2 units in stock right now, although the Mario Kart World bundle seems to be out of stock. Act fast!

Is this a sign?

Call me paranoid, but I’ve found an Amazon product page link for the Nintendo Switch 2 that leads to a “page not found” message. That has me wondering whether an Amazon restock could be coming. I’ll keep a close eye on this and let you know if anything comes of this, but for now, give it a try and see if you have any luck finding stock at Amazon.

Same story at Target

Looks like Target has the same stock situation as Walmart, with a couple of units available in certain stores. At the moment, I can see availability in the Manhattan Herald Square store, for example.

A few units at Walmart

Morning all! It looks like Walmart may have a few Nintendo Switch 2 units available, depending on your location. Give the link a try and see if you can snag one — I’m seeing very low stock numbers reported on the site, though.

Switch 2 Mario Kart: for $499 @ Walmart

Switch 2 consoles still in-store at Target…

It’s about 5:30pm here in New York and I’m still seeing limited Switch 2 restock in select Target stores. Remember, this is an in-store only drop at select stores, so it’s likely to run out soon.

Right now I’m seeing a healthy amount of stock at within a 50-mile radius with Switch 2 consoles in Hell’s Kitchen, Flatbush, LIC, and even across the Hudson in parts of NJ like Kearny and Edgewater. Just click the “show in-stock stores” button to see your nearest stock with stock.

Could there be more Switch 2 Best Buy restock later…?

Nintendo Switch 2

This week is the Best Buy Member Deal Days Sale. Think of it as Best Buy’s Prime Day with hundreds of deals exclusively for My Best Buy members. (The sale is for paying members only and annual prices start at $49/year).

Although Best Buy just restocked the Switch 2 earlier today, I wouldn’t be surprised if they restock again on Wednesday during Walmart’s confirmed Switch 2 restock. So if you didn’t get stock earlier today, you may have a few more options later this week.

Restock alert! Target has in-store stock…

Target Store

Well, it’s looking like today is a good day for Switch 2 restocks. Hot on the heels of this afternoon’s Best Buy drop, Target has Switch 2 consoles available in select stores. It doesn’t look like they’re available for shipping, but I would definitely recommend you check your locat store via the Target store locator.

Walmart Switch 2 restock on June 25

Even if you missed out on today’s brief Best Buy restock, you’ll have another chance this Wednesday when Walmart launches its own restock. Note that you’ll have to be a Walmart Plus member to get dibs an hour before everyone else.

Another stock sweep

I just did a stock sweep of all the major US retailers selling the Switch 2 and came up empty. Things got exciting during the Best Buy restock, but it now seems we’re back to business as usual with Switch 2 restocks, or the lack of them. That said, another retailer might randomly have stock again, so there’s still hope!

A great Mario Kart World peripheral

If you were lucky enough to get a Switch 2 during Best Buy’s restock, why not get a peripheral that’s perfect for Mario Kart World? To that end, we recommend the Switch Joy-Con 2 Wheel.

No Best Buy restock (at the moment)

(Image credit: Future / Tom’s Guide)

It looks like the party is indeed over, as another check of Best Buy shows no restocks at the moment. I’ll keep checking the retailer and other vendors for more stock, so don’t lose hope!

Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle @ Best Buy (SOLD OUT)

Best Buy is sold out!

Looks like Best Buy has just run out of the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle. That’s a bummer for sure, but at least the retail giant had systems available for over two hours… which is something we haven’t seen since Nintendo’s system launched. I’m going to keep checking in on restocks, but it appears the party might be over (for now).

Still going!

Guess what? Best Buy still has Switch 2 in stock! It’s been almost two hours, so I’m shocked that stock hasn’t completely sold out like usual. But as I said in the previous post, it might be because it appears you can only get this system in a store, even if you order online. While having to drive (or take a train) to a Best Buy might be annoying, at least you’ll have a Switch 2!

In-store pick up

One thing I want to note about this Best Buy Switch 2 restock is that it might require you to pick up your system at the store. For instance, one of my colleagues purchased one, but Best Buy isn’t shipping it to his home. It’s also not available to ship to my location, which is roughly in the same Queens, NY neighborhood as my colleague. Perhaps this is why stock is still available.

You can still get a Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle at Best Buy, so click the link down below to snatch one up before the retailer runs out!

Hey, all! Tony Polanco here to take over this Switch 2 restock blog for the next few hours!

Right now, the big story is the Best Buy restock, which is still going strong! I’m used to jumping on this live blog to discuss how there’s no Switch 2 units available anywhere, so this is certainly a nice change of pace! Check the link below to snag the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle. Hurry up because we don’t know how long restocks will last!

Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle @ Best Buy

A full hour restock

It has officially exceeded an hour since Switch 2 consoles became available at Best Buy, which I must admit is a lot longer than I would have expected.

I’m unsure whether the demand isn’t as high as we initially thought, or if Best Buy managed to secure an extensive stock of bundles. Either way, they’re still available as of this post, so hit the link below if you want to pick one up.

Still going strong

While it’s been going for more than 45 minutes, Best Buy is still showing bundles in stock!

A long restock

Mario Kart World

I’m legitimately shocked how long this restock has lasted, but as of 12:25 p.m. ET, Best Buy is still letting you click the “Add to cart” button on the Switch 2 with Mario Kart bundle.

Yes, it’s been available for a while, but you don’t want to wait, as they could (and will) sell out at any time. If the button is active for you and you’ve been looking to get a console, take advantage of it while you still can.

Still Mario Kart bundle only

Nintendo Switch 2

If you were hoping to get a Switch 2 without Mario Kart World, this isn’t the restock for you. However, if you’re willing to spend an extra $50 to get the console and the game, Best Buy still lists the bundle as In Stock.

Test purchase

Switch 2 buy

At 12:10 p.m. ET, I added a Switch 2 to my cart and received a waiting in line page that told me not to refresh or leave the page. From there, it took me to a sign-in page where I had to do a one-time code.

From there, it got me to the checkout page, where I was able to get a console. Your mileage may vary, but on my end, it still seems to be working.

Still there

The Mario Kart bundle is still showing as in stock for me as of 12:04 p.m. ET, but you’d better go quickly if you’re interested in getting one, as we don’t expect it to last.

Best Buy restock is live

The Best Buy restock is live and is expected to sell out extremely quickly. If you’re interested in getting a console, hit the links that follow and make it happen (it looks like only the bundle with Mario Kart is in stock):

Best Buy restock soon

Best Buy is expected to restock the Switch 2 today at around noon ET, according to Jake Randall on X.

Be sure to log in to your Best Buy account and save your information to speed up the process.

We’ll keep refreshing the Best Buy website and will post as soon as the restock starts.

US stock sweep results

Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller

I’ve gone through every U.S. retailer that carries Switch 2 (see below for links if you want to check yourself), and unfortunately, none have Switch 2 consoles in stock. While we know Walmart is slated to offer consoles on June 25 (with Walmart+ members getting access an hour early), it seems other retailers aren’t getting more consoles.

We’ll keep an eye out for any restocks or announcements of new consoles, but for now, it seems everything is quiet.

Get your head in the game with the Switch 2 Camera

Nintendo Switch 2 Camera

There’s no luck with Switch 2 restocks right now, but you may want to look at all the accessories that will make gaming on Nintendo’s latest console all the more fun. And that includes the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera.

It’s not for everyone, and it only has limited game support, but we noted in our Nintendo Switch 2 Camera review that it’s a relatively affordable webcam with decent image quality to use in games like Mario Kart World. It just adds an extra layer of fun with friends when playing online.

The camera is available at all retailers, so if you’re looking to play with pals across borders, the Switch 2 Camera is a good shout.

Sign up to Walmart+ for early access!

A Nintendo Switch 2 handheld console

This week, Walmart is looking to be your best chance to grab a Switch 2, whether that be just the console or the Mario Kart World bundle. It’s set to be in stock at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT on Wednesday, June 25th, but only Walmart+ subscribers will get early access to pick one up.

Walmart+ is a paid subscription service ($98 for its annual plan), but you can get a 30-day free trial if you haven’t signed up before. Start that off and you’ll be on your way to be the first (likely of many) to swipe a Switch 2 once it’s available at Walmart.

While Switch 2 restocks haven’t been kind to the U.S. or U.K. currently, there’s still sure to be more drops throughout the week, and we’ll let you know once they finally arrive.

Switch 2 stock available at BJ’s for members

If you’re a member, there appears to be Nintendo Switch 2 stock over at BJ’s. The console has been in and out of stock over the past few weeks at the retailer, and it’s still limited to “1 per member.”

There are no other Switch 2 consoles in stock at other retailers at the moment, so this is a good opportunity to grab one for BJ’s members!

Two ways to get a Switch 2 in the UK right now

Nintendo Switch 2

Finding stock in the U.S. and U.K. is proving difficult at the moment, but there are still two opportunities to grab a Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.K. — but they come with a catch.

First, there’s a Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle that comes with a 12-month membership to Nintendo Switch Online over at EE. However, this is a monthly contract, meaning it’s £22 per month over 24 months. At least you’ll only have to pay £20 upfront.

There’s also a Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle at The Game Collection with a bunch of add-ons, including Cyberpunk 2077, the Switch 2 Camera, a 256GB SanDisk MicroSD card and a travel case. This will set you back £609, so a lot more than your regular Switch 2 order, but you do get a few nice extras.

Otherwise, we’ll be keeping an eye out for more Switch 2 restocks!

Walmart confirms Switch 2 restock this week

A Nintendo Switch 2 handheld console

Getting hold of a Switch 2 has been really tough the last few weeks — but Walmart is offering us a ray of hope this week.

The retailer has confirmed to The Shortcut that it will be getting a restock of both the Switch 2 and the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle later this week. The system will be in stock from 9pm ET / 6pm PT on Wednesday, June 25th.

Unfortunately, you’ll need to be a Walmart+ subscriber to get early access. So if you haven’t signed up yet, now’s your chance.

UK stock has vanished too

Nintendo Switch 2 London event hands-on images

If you live in the U.K., then you’ve probably found it a lot easier to get your hands on a Switch 2 console. Retailers across the pond have seemingly had a steady flow of consoles coming through — but right now it seems very quiet out there.

Neither Amazon nor Argos in the U.K. currently have any stock left and other retailers like Very.co.uk and Game.co.uk are also coming up empty.

A retailer sweep to start the week

Nintendo Switch 2

The story of the Switch 2 so far has been of stock just trickling through some of the retailers and, sadly it looks like little has changed as we start the week.

It’s Jeff managing the blog at the moment and I’ve started out by checking through all the retailers on our list. There’s nothing so far that I can see in any of the big outlets so we’ll just have to sit tight for now.

Walmart did confirm last week that it’ll get a new shipment in starting at 9 pm Eastern/6 pm Pacific on Wednesday (June 25). Keep in mind that you do need to be a Walmart+ member to purchase the console or the Mario Kart World bundle.

Here’s all the links to the retailers again, so you can have a look at your own leisure. Don’t worry though, we’ll keep checking through as the week goes on.
