It’s been a rough stretch for Aryna Sabalenka — at least, by world No. 1 standards.

Sabalenka has failed to recapture Grand Slam glory since winning the U.S. Open for the first time last year, despite advancing to at least the semifinals in all three Grand Slams so far in 2025.

But each time this year, Sabalenka has been foiled by an American in her attempt to add to her trophy collection.

She lost against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final, against Coco Gauff in the French Open final and against Amanda Anisimova, also in the semis at Flushing Meadows, in the 2025 Wimbledon semifinal.

Perhaps Sabalenka can get the ultimate revenge by winning her second straight U.S. Open title on their home turf.
