“We’re fastidiously inspecting the implications of the varied measures /bulletins made by the President of the USA. Conserving in view the imaginative and prescient of Viksit Bharat, the Division is engaged with all stakeholders, together with Indian trade and exporters, taking suggestions of their evaluation of the tariffs and assessing the scenario,” ANI quoted the ministry of commerce and trade as saying. 

“The Division can also be learning the alternatives that will come up on account of this new growth within the US commerce coverage,” the ministry added. 

“US President issued an Government Order on Reciprocal Tariffs imposing further ad-valorem duties starting from 10% to 50% on imports from all buying and selling companions,” the ministry mentioned.

“The baseline responsibility of 10% will probably be efficient from April 05, 2025 and the remaining nation particular further ad-valorem responsibility will probably be efficient from April 09, 2025. The extra responsibility on India as per the Annex I of the Government Order is 27%,” the assertion added.

On Thursday, Trump imposed a 27% tariff on imports from India, barely increased than the 20% levy for the European Union, the 24% for Japan and the 25% for South Korea.
