Who is Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump?
Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s son, Barron, largely stayed out of the spotlight while his father was in office, but now he is about to help with campaign efforts.
President Donald Trump’s youngest son is reportedly not returning to New York University’s New York campus for his sophomore year of college as expected.
Barron Trump, 19, attended NYU Stern School of Business in Manhattan for his freshman year. Although fall semester classes started Sept. 2, Barron has not yet been spotted in New York.
People and the New York Post have reported that is because he is headed to a different NYU campus for his second year. People, citing NYU security guards, reported Barron did not appear back at the main campus this fall. The New York Post reported he is taking classes at NYU’s Washington, D.C. campus and residing in the White House in the meantime.
The first lady’s office declined to comment.
Sightings of Barron Trump, sole child of Donald and Melania Trump, have been rare. The 19-year-old, 6-foot-7-inch-tall Barron Trump, a college sophomore, last made a public appearance when his father was sworn in on Inauguration Day in January.
March 20, 2025, was Barron Trump’s 19th birthday. His father was home visiting Mar-a-Lago that week before flying to Trump Tower to be with his youngest son. There were no photos posted on any of Donald Trump’s social accounts. While in college, Barron Trump reportedly lives at Trump Tower in Manhattan, New York, which is a about 2.5 miles north of NYU’s Stern School of Business.
Before he turned 18, Barron Trump was largely kept out of the spotlight because of Melania Trump’s protective nature. He has shown interest in his father’s politics, particularly during the 2024 presidential election, though he did not make many public appearances.
The NYU campus is a few neighborhoods away from Trump Tower in Manhattan, where Barron Trump spent much of his childhood and lived until his father was sworn in as the 45th president in early 2017. Barron Trump lived in the White House with his parents until 2019, when Donald and Melania Trump permanently relocated to Trump’s private club, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
It is notable that Barron Trump is breaking away from family tradition by attending NYU. Barron Trump is not attending the University of Pennsylvania or Georgetown University, which have strong ties to the Trump family. Donald Trump and his other children — Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump and Tiffany Trump — have attended or graduated from the prestigious universities in Pennsylvania and Washington, DC, respectively.
There is, however, one Trump family member with ties to NYU.
The youngest Trump is following much of the family in pursuing a business degree, but forging a new path in choosing New York University’s Stern School of Business, known as NYU Stern. Barron Trump’s brother-in-law Jared Kushner, who is married to Barron’s half-sister Ivanka Trump, has an undergraduate degree from Harvard and business and law degrees from New York University. Kushner graduated from NYU Stern.
The youngest Trump son has gone viral for his height, usually towering above his family members. He is at least 6-foot-7, though reports surfaced that he could be taller.”
The president’s other kids are also tall:
President Donald Trump is 6’3″ and Melania Trump is 5’11”.
