Drawing attention to India’s experience, he said, “India has been bearing the brunt of the terrorism for the last four decades. Recently, we saw the worst side of terrorism in Pahalgam. I express my gratitude to the friendly country that stood with us in this hour of grief.”
SCO priorities outlined
Outlining India’s approach to the grouping, Modi said, “India has played a very positive role as a member of the SCO. India’s vision and policy for the SCO is based on three important pillars. S – Security, C – Connectivity and O – Opportunity.”
Common challenges
The Prime Minister also pointed to wider issues confronting the global community. “We must unanimously denounce terrorism,” he said, while naming terrorism, separatism and castism as key challenges.
Reform and transformation
Highlighting India’s broader outlook, Modi said, “Reform, perform and transform are three principles India is adhering by.” He linked this to India’s domestic governance and its engagement with multilateral platforms such as the SCO.
