Brooklyn Bridge struck by Mexican navy coaching ship, 19 injured

Video of the collision that was posted on-line confirmed the mast of the ship, which was flying a large inexperienced, white and pink Mexican flag, scraping the beneath of the bridge. The vessel then drifted towards the sting of the river as onlookers scrambled away from shore.  

The Mexican navy stated in a submit on X that the Cuauhtemoc, an academy coaching vessel, was broken in an accident with the Brooklyn Bridge that prevented it from persevering with its voyage.  

“The ship, from what I used to be knowledgeable by the supervisors of the ship, it was disembarking and going to Iceland,” the NYPD official stated. “I suppose it was, the pilot that’s assigned to navigate, , the boat out of the water, I imagine there was some mechanical points that in all probability triggered the ship to hit the water.”

Esteban Moctezuma Barragán, Mexican ambassador to the U.S., stated the ship has been crusing for about 20 years and was headed from Cozumel, Mexico, to Iceland.    

The Mexican navy’s submit added that the standing of personnel and materials was below evaluation by naval and native authorities, which had been offering help.

“The Secretary of the Navy renews its dedication to the security of personnel, transparency in its operations and glorious coaching for future officers of the Mexican Armada,” it stated in Spanish.
