A brand new pope has taken the helm of the Catholic Church, after being elected in a two-day conclave in Vatican Metropolis.

Crowds of devoted erupted into cheers as Robert Prevost, 69, appeared on the balcony overlooking St Peter’s Sq. for the primary time.

He’ll now be often called Pope Leo XIV, and is the primary American to be elected to the position.
