It’s hot, it’s humid and the Garden State Parkway is starting to back up up with drivers heading back north from the beaches and boardwalks.

In other words, it’s a pretty standard Sunday in August for the Jersey Shore.

Here’s the latest traffic updates for Shore motorists on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025:

An overturned vehicle on the northbound Garden State Parkway, north of Exit 109 in Middletown, has a lane blocked, according to 511nj.org.

The crash has led to a four-mile rubbernecking delay between Exit 105 in Tinton Falls and Exit 109.

The disabled vehicle, which blocked the center lane on the Garden State Parkway near Exit 89-C in Lakewood, has been cleared.

Motorists face a 2.5-mile delay from the Asbury Toll Plaza to Exit 105 in Tinton Falls, as well as a 1.5-mile delay near Exit 109 in Middletown, according to 511nj.org.

According to 511nj.org, there are pockets of delays all along Route 35 and Route 36 from Mantoloking and Bay Head all the way to Sea Bright and Highlands.

The right lane and shoulder is still closed on the Manasquan River Bridge in Brielle after an earlier fuel spill.

A two-mile delay on the northbound Garden State Parkway has continued, south of Exit 89-A in Lakewood to Exit 90 in Brick.

On an otherwise light traffic day, a two-mile delay is holding steady north of Exit 98 on the northbound Garden State Parkway, according to 511nj.org. The delays clear up after the Judy Blume Service Area in Wall.

The 63-mile trip on the Garden State Parkway north from Exit 63 to the Raritan toll plaza is about 1 hour and 15 minutes in the express lanes and 1 hour and 17 minutes in the local lanes, according to 511nj.org.

A crash in the local lanes on the northbound Garden State Parkway has blocked the left lane just south of Exit 105 in Tinton Falls, according to 511nj.org.

Other northbound delays have continued, including a two-mile delay north of Exit 98 to the Judy Blume Service Area and a two mile delay between Exit 89-A and Exit 90.

Additionally, 511nj.org reported a 2.5-mile delay on the southbound Garden State Parkway from Exit 117 to Exit 116.

Northbound motorists face pockets of delays on the Garden State Parkway on Sunday afternoon.

According to 511nj.org, there’s a four-mile delay between Exit 89-A in Toms River and Exit 90 in Brick due to volume. Another two-mile delay was reported in Wall, north of Exit 98.

Route 35 is also facing delays at the Manasquan River Bridge, where a fuel spill has blocked one of two lanes and the right shoulder.
