I used to be booked to fly into Heathrow from Singapore tonight.
I’m travelling alone with my six-year-old and so opted for an in a single day flight to hopefully enable the 15-hour flight to go a bit faster.
I contacted Qantas to test if the airline is diverting my flight however it mentioned there was no phrase but. Individually, Qantas has instructed the BBC my flight is more likely to be impacted.
I have been checking various flights to Gatwick or Manchester to see if I can get forward of any delays.
There are few direct choices. However Singapore Airways to London Gatwick for 2 of us is costing about $3,000 (£2,320) at this late stage! My journey insurance coverage will solely cowl the price of my authentic flight, and provided that the airline sends us written proof that it’s cancelling or diverting.
In the previous couple of minutes, I’ve obtained the beneath message saying Qantas appears ahead to welcoming me onboard.
I am sceptical as any delays at busy airports like Heathrow are more likely to final for days. However I assume I will take my possibilities by heading to the airport within the coming hours – together with a really sleepy youngster.
