Flyers general manager Daniel Briere has said a few times that the club wasn’t necessarily trying to add size to its prospect pool.
The club’s six selections in the draft through two rounds say otherwise.
In addition to first round selections winger Porter Martone (6-feet-3) and center Jack Nesbitt (6-5), the Flyers added four more big guys in the second round on Saturday: 6-6 defenseman Carter Amico, 6-1 inch winger Jack Murtagh, 6-3 winger Shane Vansaghi and 6-5 center Matthew Gard.
Many of the Flyers’ top young players already on the NHL roster are undersized. Their prospect pool, prior to this draft, wasn’t very big, either. Hard to believe this is a coincidence.
