Where to pre-order Donkey Kong Bananza…
Donkey Kong Bananza is hands-down one of the Switch 2’s most exciting games. Our own senior computing writer Tony Polanco said it’s the game that could convince him to buy a Switch 2. Now that the Switch 2’s launch day is almost here, it’s the perfect time to secure a few titles you can play this summer.
So below I’ve listed all the major retailers where you can pre-order Donkey Kong Bananza right now. I wouldn’t be surprised if some retailers start selling out of stock in the near future, so secure this must-have title while it’s still relatively easy to pre-order.
Game cancelling Switch 2 pre-orders (UK)
UK retailer Game has cancelled a few Switch 2 pre-orders, according to its X account. The statement doesn’t mention how many shoppers are affected nor does it say why they were cancelled. However, it does say that they’re doing everything possible to make sure the errors are fixed.
In the meantime, take this as a reminder to make sure your credit card info, billing address, and any other necessary details are up to date on whatever store you pre-ordered (or plan to pre-order) your Switch 2. The last thing you want is for your order to be cancelled because of an expired credit card.
Target confirm Switch 2 launch plans
While we may not have any Switch 2 restock news to bring you today, I’ve been contacted by Target this morning to confirm that the retailer will be holding a Switch 2 restock next week both in-store and online.
It’ll kick off on launch day (Thursday, June 5). “Shoppers can begin lining up in the designated queuing location at the entrance of each Target store before stores open on June 5. Target team members will distribute physical or digital tickets, which will reserve product for purchase. Limited stock is available. Ticketing will take place until all tickets have been claimed or 10 minutes prior to store opening. “
However, you’re not out of luck if you can’t make it over to a physical Target location, the retailer has also confirmed that “On June 6, Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle will be available for purchase beginning early morning on Target.com, while supplies last.”
Of course, I’ll be here, bringing you the latest updates next week, so be sure to keep checking this live blog for further information, and up-to-the-minute restock alerts.
Currys £579 bundle is still in stock (UK)
Over in the U.K., you still have time to score a Switch 2 pre-order as this pricey Currys bundle is sticking around a lot longer than I expected. It was made available last week, and I’m still able to add to my cart almost a full week later.
I can only assume the £579 price point is putting off a lot of shoppers, but still, if you desperately want a Switch 2 pre-order before next week, and were planning on picking up some extra anyway, it’s a solid deal. Just make sure your budget can stretch.
If you’re more comfortable spending the £395 for a standalone Switch 2 unit, my advice is to hold off, as more chances to buy the console will appear over the summer.

Still no Switch 2 pre-orders in the U.S.
It’s not a surprise at this point, but if you were hoping today would be the day where we still fresh chances to pre-order, so far, the situation remains unchanged.
I’ve checked through all the retailers below and for now, the Nintendo Switch 2 remains out of stock. As noted, that was to be expected, as most retailers appear to be holding units for already confirmed launch week restocks, but I’ll keep checking just in case there’s an out-of-the-blue chance to lock-in a Switch 2 this side of the weekend.
Nintendo Switch 2 is just a week away
We’re entering the endgame now as Nintendo Switch 2 launches in 1 week. After years of rumors and speculation, and a lot of waiting for official news, Nintendo’s new console will be here in just seven days. The excitement is certainly building fast.
Don’t worry if you haven’t secured yourself a Switch 2 yet, I’m on hand to keep tracking the final few days of the pre-order period, and once that console is launched, we’ll be shifting our focus to restocks to ensure you have a chance to pick up a Switch 2 ASAP.
Retailer sweep: Another day of no stock…
The day is coming to a close here in New York and it was yet another day with no Switch 2 stock. On the flip side, we did get confirmation on Target’s plans next week along with details on Best Buy’s summer gaming events.
Per usual, below are all the retailer links in case you want to take a peek for yourself.
Target’s launch-day stock will be in-store only…
Target has finally confirmed its Switch 2 plans for next week. On launch day (June 5), Switch 2 consoles will be available in-store only. On June 6, stock will be available online. The news had been previously reported by stock tracker Jake_Randall_YT on X, but Target has made it official.
Currently, Target is taking pre-orders of various Switch 2 games and accessories like Mark Kart Work, the Switch 2 Pro Controller, Donkey Kong Bananza, and more.

Best Buy to host Switch 2 summer gaming events…
Best Buy is going all out for the launch of the Switch 2. However, in addition to next week’s launch events, the retailer is also planning Switch 2 Summer Gaming Events. Select Best Buy parking lots will host Gaming Truck theaters where anybody can drop by and get some hands-on time with the Switch 2.
During these events, select Best Buy stores may also have consoles available for purchase. Events are already planned for Philadelphia, PA; Union, NJ; Culver City, CA; and Arlington, TX. Check out the list below for participating cities and dates.

Another Switch 2 retailer confirmed, and I didn’t see this coming
Well, in a move I didn’t see coming, Staples, you know the office supplies retailer, has confirmed that it will be offering shoppers the chance to buy a Switch 2 on June 5.
Yup, so now you can pick up a couple yellow legal pads alongside your brand new console. The retailer has confirmed it will have the regular Switch 2 for $449 and a Switch 2 Bundle for $500, which the retailer notes “includes games” but doesn’t list the software as of yet. I have a suspicion that means it won’t be Mario Kart World.
Stock will be “first come, first served” and won’t be available online, you need to head to your local Staple stores. You can check if you nearest store will have stock using the store finder below. This is a surprising turn of events, but certainly a welcome one!
Still time to pre-order Switch 2 games
If you’re set to receive a Nintendo Switch 2 next week, then you’re going to want to get some of the launch games secured. After all, what good is a new video game system without some must-play software to go with it?
Obviously, Mario Kart World is going to be the game everybody is playing, but the title I’m most anticipating is actually The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. I adored the game on Switch 1, but felt the 2017 hardware just couldn’t keep up with the demanding open-world experience. So, being able to return to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on more powerful hardware sounds like a dream to me.
Still time to score this Switch 2 bundle (UK)
The Nintendo Switch 2 bundle, I highlighted earlier at Currys UK is still in stock. As noted, while it does cost a pricey £579, you are getting the Mario Kart World Bundle alongside a bunch of useful extras, it’s a package worth considering your budget can stretch to almost £600, and you actually want the extras in the package, of course.

Check your Switch 2 pre-order (if you have one already)
I reported last week that several gamers fortunate enough to secure a Switch 2 pre-order in April have taken to social media to vent frustration at seeing their order canceled merely a couple weeks away from the Switch 2’s much anticipated launch.
These reports have persisted into this week, and while retailer’s aren’t commenting on the matter, in many cases it seems to be down to a billing issues now that pre-orders are being charged ahead of the shipping process beginning in the days ahead.
So, if you’re one of the lucky ones who was able to lock in a Switch 2 pre-order already, make sure to check your order as soon as possible, and ensure all your billing information is correct, and that there are enough funds in your account.
You’ve already secured the bag, don’t drop it at the final hurdle!
I’m shocked this Switch 2 bundle is still in stock (UK)
Last week, Currys in the U.K., restocked a load of Switch 2 items, and while the standalone stock was quickly snapped up, a retailer bundle has stuck around longer.
This package does come with a steep price of £579, that’s a big increase from the £395 base price of the console, but you’re getting a Switch 2 with two great games, Mario Kart World and Street Fighter 6, as well as some useful extras in the form of a Switch 2 Camera (perfect for the new GameChat feature) and a 256GB microSD Express card.
This is currently the best way to lock in a Switch 2 pre-order in the U.K., just so long as your budget can stretch this far. It could sell out soon, so don’t delay much longer.

Switch 2 stock sweep – still sold out in the U.S.
I’ve completed my first Switch 2 pre-order stock sweep of the day, and the situation remains the same: Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are sold out across retailers.
This isn’t a great surprise. For starters, it’s super early hours of the morning in the U.S., and a restock at this time would be unlikely. Plus, we know that retailers are gearing up for launch week restocks, so there’s a chance any units will be held back until then.
Still, if you want to have a look yourself, and there’s never any harm in regularly checking just in case you get lucky and catch an out-of-the-blue drop, here’s all the retailer links you need to be checking…
Another day of Switch 2 pre-order tracking begins
Good morning! Welcome back to Tom’s Guide Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order live blog, I’m once again on the look out for any restocks or news as we inch ever closer to the Switch 2 launch on June 5.
Over the past 24 hours, we haven’t seen any restocks, but a few Switch 2 consoles look to have appeared in the wild with users on social media sharing images of the console being unboxed. Nintendo has been quick to take down these posts, so I won’t share them here, but it’s a reminder that we really are just one week away from Switch 2.
Retailer sweep: No signs of stock…
Another day is coming to an end and once again there’s no signs of pre-order stock. Folks in the U.K. saw some stock this morning, but the U.S. remains in a drought. But as we keep saying, that drought will end next week when the official launch day arrives.
In the meantime, you can check out all the retailers via the links below.
Nintendo updates Switch 2 compatibility list
Nintendo has updated its list of Switch 1 games that’ll play nicely on the Switch 2. The list is now broken up into sections: games with start up issues on Switch 2, playable games with some in-game compatibility issues, and games with issues that will be addressed by launch or shortly thereafter.
There are also some games — such as Ring Fit Adventure — where you’ll need to use your old Joy-Cons instead of the new Joy-Con 2. You can dive into the full list via the link below.

An accessory worth pre-ordering now…
The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is going to be one of the most popular Switch 2 accessories. It actually managed to sell out last month, but retailers are offering pre-order stock once again. If you know you’re going to get a Switch 2 on launch day, make sure to secure a Switch 2 Pro Controller as well.
Restock alert: Bundles at ShopTo (UK)
Folks in the U.K. have one more opportunity to score a Switch 2. Right now ShopTo has a Switch 2 bundle available for £512. It’s mighty pricey, but it includes the standalone Switch 2 console, Switch 2 Camera, and a Stealth Premium Travel Kit.
The pre-order situation here in the U.S. is still pretty bleak, but I’ll keep checking in the hopes that we see at least one pre-order opportunity before launch day.
One Switch 2 bundle left in stock at Currys (UK)
Gamers in the U.K. have been positively showered with chances to buy a Switch 2 over the past few weeks, and even now, with the console just over a week away from launch, there’s still time to lock in a pre-order.
Currys restocked its Switch 2 pre-orders last week, and while most of its allocation appears to have been snapped up, there’s a single bundle option left. Right now, you can get a Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart Bundle with Street Fighter 6, Switch 2 Camera and 256GB microSD Express card for £579 at Currys.
It’s a pretty steep price compared to the base console’s £395 RRP, but you’re getting plenty of extras for the additional cash here, and all the items are being sold at cost price, so there’s no nasty markup. If your budget can stretch, it’s a solid option.

Switch 2 will support USB mice!
In non-restock news, it’s been confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 will support additional USB mice, rather than merely the mouse mode on the Joy-Con 2.
This is a pretty huge deal. My colleague, Jeff Parsons, tried out the Switch 2 last month (I swear, I’m not jealous…) and found the mouse mode a bit too clunky to be truly useful. However, with the option to use a mouse of your own choosing, using a mouse will be a very viable control option on Nintendo Switch 2. Consider me pleased.
Switch 2 stock sweep – still no signs of pre-orders
Nintendo Switch 2’s launch is just around the corner, but on the pre-order front it’s been a very quiet few weeks, and as we enter Tuesday (May 27), there are no signs of that changing.
I’ve said before, it looks like retailers are stocking up for the already announced launch week restocks, and that appears to still be the case, as no major retailers are currently taking Switch 2 pre-orders. As for Amazon? There’s still no sign of the console at all.
If you don’t want to take my word for it, here’s all the retailer links so you can check for yourself. Of course, if anything changes, I will be sure to alert you in this live blog.
Could we see Switch 2 stock now holiday weekend is over
If you’re feeling a little blue as you head back to work following the extended Memorial Day weekend, the silver lining could be that the odds of a Switch 2 pre-order restock have now increased.
For clarification, no restocks are confirmed this week, but the chances of retailers replenishing Switch 2 stock on a holiday weekend are fairly remote. Now that we’re beyond Memorial Day, there is a better chance we could see new opportunities to order before launch week.
I’m about to do my first stock sweep of the day, so I will soon report back if there’s any signs of Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders at present. Watch this space…
All quiet in the U.S. and U.K…
There’s still a few hours left in the holiday weekend, but so far there’s been no sign of Switch 2 pre-order stock. I’ve checked retailers in the U.S. and in the U.K. and it’s quiet on both sides of the pond.
But don’t give up quite yet. Switch 2 launch day is around the corner and if you’ve waited this long, you can certainly wait a few more days. In the meantime, I leave you with the all- important retailer links if you wanna give it a go for yourself.
Samsung pushing for a Switch 2 OLED…
If you’re like me, you’re probably disappointed that the Switch 2 lacks an OLED screen. Well, it appears that Samsung is pushing Nintendo to use its OLED panels in a future version of the Switch 2, according to Bloomberg.
Samsung is one of Nintendo’s key hardware partners and also provided the OLED display panels used in the current Nintendo Switch OLED. So it’s not too surprising to see the company pushing for an Switch 2 OLED.
That said, this doesn’t guarantee there will be an OLED Switch 2, but the fact that one of Nintendo’s key hardware partners is pushing for an OLED model could be good news for gamers who want that OLED screen.
Could Switch 2 make a Memorial Day appearance?
Memorial Day is underway and while the retail holiday is a great time for deals, it’s unlikely we’ll see any Switch 2 pre-orders today. Nintendo’s official launch day is next week and I doubt retailers will want to release any pre-orders ahead of next week.
Instead whatever stock they have now will be held back for all the launch day events we expect to see next week. I’ll still keep an eye on pre-orders today just in case something shows up, but rest assured it’ll probably be a quiet day.
That said, if you’re looking for deals make sure to check out our Memorial Day sales live blog.
Retailers are getting their Switch 2 stock!
Target has gotten their shipment of the #NintendoSwitch2 pic.twitter.com/eIWFkJ6Kd7May 26, 2025
It’s feels surreal to say Nintendo Switch 2 launches next week after all these years of rumors, leaks and waiting, but we really are entering the end game now.
Retailers are now receiving their units ahead of launch on June 5, so it’s full steam ahead over the next few days as we build up to the release date. Still no stock to speak of, but we know there will be more chance to buy next week, and we’re still tracking all the latest pre-order updates, and will alert you if the situation changes before then.
We’ve played the Nintendo Switch 2 already
If you’re still weighing up the pros and cons of purchasing a Switch 2 ahead of launch week, then you’ll want to read our hands-on impressions after two hours with the console.
A few lucky members of the TG team were able to get some time with the Switch 2 (I swear I’m not jealous…), and the report back paints a promising picture. It looks like Nintendo has really nailed the fundamentals of the system, even if our staffers weren’t totally sold on all the console’s new additions like the mouse mode.
Fortunately, it won’t be long until the console is in the wild and we can all judge for ourselves how the Switch 2 stacks up. But my hype levels are certainly rising right now.
Switch 2 launch day – confirmed restocks
At this point, it appears that most retailers are building up inventory ahead of holding restocks on Switch 2 launch day (June 5), and these will largely be in-store only.
Target, Best Buy and Walmart have confirmed they will have limited additional stock of the Switch 2 on launch day in-store. GameStop will also have extra consoles in-store, but has also confirmed it will take orders online. GameStop and Best Buy will also hold midnight launches for pre-order customers, and for those without a pre-order yet.
So, if you want to secure a Switch 2 as soon as possible, next week looks your best bet.
Switch 2 still in stock in the U.K.
While the stock situation has been pretty bleak in the U.S., over in the U.K. it’s been remarkably plentiful. In fact, you can still score a pre-order right now over at Currys.
There is a caveat here, you can’t buy a Switch 2 standalone unit, instead you’ll have to opt for a bundle, which means spending more than £550. It’s quite an eye watering price, but if your budget can stretch, and you want some accessories anyway, these bundles are good value, offering the console with some useful extras like the Switch 2 Camera and a microSD Express card to boost your Switch 2 storage space.
Here’s the Switch 2 stock links you need
The Switch 2 is currently out of stock in the U.S., but you’ll want to be checking retailers regularly as fresh stock at drop at a moments notice. So, below are all the retailer links you need to bookmark so you can ensure you’re ready to go when restocks occur.
Of course, endlessly checking retailer links sounds exhausting, so you could just bookmark this live blog, as I’ll be alerting you the moment Switch 2 is available again.
Welcome!
Hello! Welcome to Tom’s Guide’s Switch 2 pre-order live blog, where I’ll be tracking the latest stock information for Nintendo’s frustratingly difficult to purchase upcoming console. Switch 2’s launch is just over a week away, so could this be the week where we finally see some proper restocks, or will supply be held back for the release date.
