As the deadline of US President Donald Trump’s ultimatum to the Kremlin expired, Russian forces launched a drone assault, striking multiple Ukrainian regions and injuring six civilians, according to the Ukrainian Air Forces on August 8.
In Kyiv region’s Bucha district, three women—aged 16, 56, and 80—were wounded by Russian drone strikes, regional military administrator Mykola Kalashnyk reported.
“Preliminary reports suggest the injuries are not serious. Fires broke out in the private sector as a result of the enemy attack, damaging homes. All emergency services are already on site,” Kalashnyk said.
Kharkiv also came under sustained attack, Mayor Ihor Terekhov said.
After midnight, Shahed-type drones targeted the city, sparking a fire at a civilian enterprise in Kharkiv’s Saltivskyi district.
The State Emergency Service (SES) reported that the blaze engulfed the roof and technical floor of a four-story office building. Two civilians—a man born in 1959 and a woman born in 1962—suffered acute stress reactions. The fire was extinguished by 50 rescuers and 13 units of equipment.
In the Sumy region, a 54-year-old man was injured in the outskirts of Sumy after Russian drone strikes hit non-residential buildings, a shop, and a car, regional head Oleh Hryhorov said.
In the Shostka district, three drones damaged several apartment blocks, vehicles, and social infrastructure. “Specialists are assessing the scale of the damage. Rescuers and utility crews are working to eliminate the consequences,” Hryhorov noted.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russia attacked with 104 Shahed and decoy drones of various types, along with eight high-speed (jet-powered) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), launched from five directions—Shatalovo, Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Chauda in occupied Crimea.

Earlier, Russian forces killed a Ukrainian postal worker in another targeted attack on civilian infrastructure, hitting a Ukrposhta vehicle near Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region, killing the head of a mobile post office and injuring the driver.
