Borussia Dortmund have completed the permanent signing of Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea.
The Athletic reported last week that the 21-year-old was closing in on a permanent deal worth an initial £20million ($26.9m) plus an additional £4m ($5.3m) in add-ons.
He has now signed a five-year deal that will keep him at Dortmund until the summer of 2030.
Upon joining the club, Chukwuemeka said: “It feels really good to now be an integral part of BVB.
“I’ve gotten to know this club, the coach, my teammates, and the fans over the past few months, and I’m just happy that Borussia Dortmund is now my new footballing home. I will give everything I can to ensure that we achieve our goals as a team.”
Chukwuemeka joined Chelsea from Aston Villa in the summer of 2022, but struggled to establish himself in the first team at Stamford Bridge, making just 32 appearances.
He spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Dortmund, where he made 17 appearances and scored one goal.
He becomes the latest young Englishman to join Dortmund in recent years, following on from the success of Jadon Sancho, Jude Bellingham, Jamie Gittens and Jobe Bellingham, who joined the German club from Sunderland earlier this summer.
Dortmund, who drew their opening Bundesliga game of the new campaign with St Pauli last Saturday, are next in action at home to Union Berlin on Sunday.
