West Gray Fireplace Division welcomes new truck

Featured3 hours ago2 Views

The West Gray Fireplace Division held a time honoured custom final week to welcome its latest truck to the fleet.

On Wednesday, the hearth division, council, and group residents gathered on the Durham Fireplace Station for a push-in ceremony for the brand new pumper truck.

In line with West Gray, the push-in ceremony dates again to the 1800s and entails firefighters and company bodily pushing the brand new fireplace truck into the station bay. Previously, fireplace wagons had been pulled by horses and needed to be manually pushed again into the hearth corridor. In the present day, this ceremonial act pays homage to these early days and serves as a significant solution to welcome a brand new car into service.

“This ceremony is not only a few new truck, it’s about group, historical past, and our continued dedication to security and repair,” stated Phil Shwartz, Chief of the West Gray Fireplace Division. “We’re proud to uphold this custom and to showcase the energy of our fireplace group and the help of the group.”

The brand new fireplace truck is supplied with the most recent firefighting expertise and security options, considerably enhancing the division’s emergency response capabilities.

It price $800,000, in line with the 2025 West Gray price range.
