Active-duty marines deployed for Los Angeles anti-ICE protests
President Donald Trump is sending in active-duty Marines to assist law enforcement with immigration protests in Los Angeles, California.
President Donald Trump and his ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ are under fire amidst his recent twitter feud with Elon Musk and the rising tensions with with California Gov. Gavin Newsom over the Los Angeles protests.
Trump is deploying more National Guard troops and Marines to California as protests and days of unrest in Los Angeles continue, claiming they will be “protecting federal personnel and federal property.”
Demonstrators took to the city’s streets last week to protest against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers that were raiding the area. Newsome and other local leaders have objected to Trump’s orders and accuse the president of stoking the unrest.
In the barrage of tweets between the two last week, Musk blasted Trump’s spending bill, calling it a “disgusting abomination” and accused congress of “making America bankrupt.” However, he took it further by accusing the president of being in the Epstein files.
The chaotic start to Trump’s second presidency has become somewhat of the new normal since his inauguration, when he signed a slew of executive orders, then the Zelensky meeting fiasco, the onslaught of tariffs and ongoing trade war, amid much more.
In a public poll taken by CBS News this week, Trump’s deportation efforts netted a 54% positive approval overall from Americans. Albeit, the positive numbers skewed more in line when people believe deportation efforts were prioritizing dangerous criminals and skewed significantly lower when it was not dangerous criminals being targeted.
When asked about the Big Beautiful Bill’s impact, the poll results showed that 60% felt it would help the wealthy class, while a larger 47% felt it would hurt the middle class and 54% felt it would hurt poor people.
This week, we are heading into the president’s birthday — Trump will celebrate his 79th birthday on June 14th during the United States’ 250th anniversary bash and military parade in Washington, DC.
