When to expect gusty storms in New York, Vermont today

Featured1 week ago2 Views

We have a potent cold front that will keep us on high alert later today. Here’s your “one-stop-shop” look at what to expect!

Timing/Severe Risk: It will be most active between 2 PM to 9 PM today. There’s even a marginal (1 out of 5) risk for a severe storm in northern New York this afternoon, in particular nearer the St. Lawrence River Valley.

Local Hazards/Impacts: The top two hazards with today’s event will be the strong south winds and heavy downpours. Along with the wind-driven downpours and gusty storms, there will be some moderate travel impacts around the evening drive home (reduced visibility, ponding, puddling, etc.).

Rainfall Totals: It’s a widespread 0.25 to 1 inch of rain this time around with the highest totals likely within those heavier downpours/storms.
